I was very saddened to hear about My Gym Coach David Sachs death he was my teacher 20 years ago in Ramapo. My condolences to the family.  He was a wonderful man.  May God bring you all peace in this very difficult time.

Mr. Sachs was my goalie soccer coach throughout high school. At first, he volunteered as a goalie trainer and met with me everyday to improve my skills in goal. Everyday, Mr. Sachs would greet me with the warmest hug and smile. He truly made an impact on me, not only in my soccer career, but as a person. He taught me many values and the true meaning of being a good sport. My condolences are with him and his family. I will truly miss you Mr. Sachs.

I met Dave when we both started teaching P.E. in Spring Valley.  In fact we shared an apartment together until his marriage to Karin.  He was a hard person to follow in the footsteps of. I replaced him at Monsey Elementary  when North Main closed and once again at ELdorado  but all the students wanted at first was "bring Mr. Sachs back".  Iw as also a member of those pickup basketball games for faculty and friends at SVHS as well as a member of his poker group with Howie, Aaron and Rick. When I moved away we lost touch but I did pop into the Ramapo PE office on a trip a number of years ago and we reminisced about past times. 

What everyone is saying about Dave is true. He truly was one of a kind.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.I am so sorry and wish there were words to t make away some of the pain. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Dave when I first moved into Rockland County in 1972.  Tim Neill, my former next door neighbor, introduced me to Dave in our weekly recreational basketball games at Spring Valley High School.  When I retired as a NYC teacher, I chose to sub about 1-2 days A week.  When ever I worked at Ramapo High School, I always made it a point to send my regards to Dave.  I knew he was a terrific coach and teacher.  He will be sorely missed, and I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

Mr Sachs was my gym teacher for 2 years when I attended SVHS. After graduating i would often visit and we always had a pleasant conversation about life and sports. He will be missed.  Prayers and condolences for the family.

Coach Dave Sachs - you will be missed by all.  Your amazing dedication as a coach and gym teacher made a tremendous impact on all the students and athletes you taught and coached.  I am sure that everyone who has heard of your passing will stop and reflect on the many life lessons you taught us all about hard work, dedication and practice.  Your knowledge of the games that you passed along has stayed with me throughout my life and I in part have passed them on to my daughter and the girls on her softball teams that I have coached.  I will personally miss bumping into you at my Sunday morning softball games where it was a distinct honor and privilege to catch up with you and reminisce about the old days.  What fun it was to have you umpire so many of my games.  It amazed me how you remembered every single guy on the teams that you coached and how you even remembered specific games almost 30 years later.  I will miss hearing about your family and seeing how you would light up while talking so fondly of them.  I hope they knew how much they meant to you and hope it gives your family comfort in knowing that your legacy is firmly cemented and will live on with so many.  My condolences to the family for the loss of such a beloved and devoted family man who positively impacted so many others along the way.

For a number of years, I have been one of Dave's many admirers. He truly understood the nature of coaching. His players were not tools; they were full human beings, deserving of guidance, respect, encouragement and love. Dave truly helped to shape lives both as a teacher and as a coach
I came  to know him a little more because of our being in the same breakfast group, consisting of retired teachers from Spring Valley HS. His presence added a sparkle to this group, and his humanity shone through brightly , especially when we would allow our discussions  to venture into some serious and/or student-oriented subjects.
I was greatly shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I certainly hope that the words I have written here along with the sentiments of the many who held Dave in the highest esteem can offer some comfort to Karin and his daughters.

I knew Dave at Spring Valley where I taught.  My family offers condolences to Dave's family.  He will surely be missed.

Coach Sachs was my elementary school gym teacher back at Eldorado in Spring Valley.  When my brother played at Spring Valley Junior High coach Sachs used to let me shoot foul shots as the kids practiced boxing out.  I went on to have him as a coach at Spring Valley Senior HS on the soccer team.  He always conducted himself as a professional, always making sure the kids came first.  I remember him as someone who taught kids how to play the game, not just how to win.  RIP coach Sachs.

My family sends our condolences to Coach Sachs' family.  I have very fond memories of Coach from my high school baseball years.  He always handled us with patience and respect and taught us more than just the rules of the game.  I use his lessons frequently and have had him in my thoughts over the last 25+ years....I can't say that about many people...RIP Coach.
