David was born July 16, in Suffern, New York, to the late Franklyn (Frank) and Elaine Mellion. He was a hard worker, devoted husband and father, and a proud dog dad. He took the greatest pride in his daughter and being surrounded by family and good food.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Sharon Mellion and his loving daughter Nicole Mellion; he leaves behind his two adorable dogs Mumford and Maxwell. David also leaves behind his cousin Jimmy Mellion, who was like a brother to him, and his wife Sandy Mellion.
Born and raised in Rockland County, David “the Moose” Mellion took pride in being one of Nanuet High School’s top athletes, most notably on the football field. David went on to join the family business Mellion’s Quality Market, and later in his career, a chef. He loved cooking, known best for his potato salad, brisket, and famous banana bread. He loved to read, a frequent visitor of the New City Library. In his spare time, David liked to do puzzles, watch movies, and have backgammon tournaments with Sharon and Nicole.
A private service will be held for close friends and family.
Memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. Donations to these two organizations would be greatly appreciated by the Mellion family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977 (845) 356-8600 Jewish Funeral Directors
