Dr. Barry Paul Karp

Barry was raised in Queens where he met Ellen in 1968 and moved to Rockland County, New York to raise their family, enjoying their family home in Nanuet for 48 years. He worked as a Psychology Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for over 30 years, and loved spending time with his family, playing Canasta, Bingo, listening to music, and attending Broadway shows.

Surviving to mourn this tremendous loss are his cherished daughters, Sharon (Karp) Gunzburg and Hope (Karp) Tepper, his devoted son-in-law’s, Allan Gunzburg and Charlie Tepper, and his precious grandchildren Bria and Seth Gunzburg and Brandon and Harrison Tepper. Also left to cherish his memory are his dear nephews and nieces, loving cousins, and precious friends. Barry is predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ellen, and his dear sister, Muriel Domowitz.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, 11:00 AM at Hellman Memorial Chapel, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, New York 10977. For those of you who are unable to attend in person, a webcasting link will be available on the services section of this obituary page. Interment will take place immediately following funeral services at Beth Moses Cemetery at 1500 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, New York 11704.
