Audrey Greenhut passed away on Friday, October 7, at 85 years old, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 65 years, Niles, her two daughters, Amy (Larry), Karen (Jeffrey), and four grandchildren – Sara, Josh, Emily, and Rebecca. She was preceded by her treasured parents, Sophie and Jack, and brother, Philip. An extremely talented and accomplished woman, Audrey was known for her long, celebrated career teaching at PS 76 in the Bronx, in the same classroom she attended growing up. She received a Masters in French Literature and had many educational accomplishments, including Phi Beta Kappa. Audrey was known for her famous cooking, baking, and artistic talents, including knitting and crocheting. She was a linguist, speaking French and Yiddish fluently, among other languages. Right up until her death, she completed the New York Times Crossword Puzzle – in pen. She enjoyed traveling the world, having been to all 7 continents, with her best friend/husband, Niles. Her love and legacy will live on forever. She will be sorely missed by everyone who ever knew her.
Graveside services for Audrey will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at King Solomon Cemetery, 550 Dwasline Road, Clifton, NJ 07012.
