Sonja Mager Sexton

Sonja Sexton, age 82, of Spring Hill, FL. died Thursday, December 31, 2015, in Lakeland, FL. surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 18, 1933 in Skupice, Czechoslovakia. She met her husband Jack E. Sexton, in Germany while he was serving in the US Army, and moved to Erie, PA, shortly after being married, where she became a naturalized citizen. She went on to raise 3 children and run a successful building supply company with her husband, Sexton Supply. She and her husband, retired to Spring Hill in 2000, where they enjoyed going, as well as being, vendors in local flea markets. Sonja loved spending time with her husband, family and animals the most. Her parents, as well as her loving husband Jack E. Sexton preceded Sonja in death. Sonja is lovingly survived and will be greatly missed by her family; daughter, Mary Ann Platz of Erie, PA along with her companion Daniel Olson of Bemus Point, NY. Son, Jack E. “Bodie” Sexton, Jr. of Erie, PA. and his former wife, Kathleen Sexton, of Conneaut, OH. daughter, Lisa Ann (Steve) Holm, of Lakeland, FL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Thomas W. (Sara) Platz, III, of Charlotte, NC. Mia L. and Tabitha E. Sexton, both of Conneaut, OH. Justine E. Sexton, of Raleigh, NC. Shaun Holm, of Lakeland, FL. As well as 3 great-grandchildren. Sonjas’ funeral arrangements and care are entrusted to the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida, 34609. Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 10 – 11 am at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am and committal services will conclude at the Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, in Spring Hill. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the local ASPCA, in honor of Sonja.
