

Scott Lee Mintzer or Scotty as everyone knew him, was born in New York City August 3, 1950 to his parents Lucile and Harvey. He grew up with siblings Michael, Robert, Susan and Gerri. He passed on from this life at the age of 65 in Spring Hill, Florida from a car accident on August 23, 2015. He grew up in New York City, as a locksmith for over 25 years. Not finishing his high school education, he became an entrepreneur of sorts, at the age of 17 his father bought him his first trumpet which he played till 2015. He was doing things from custodian in schools; interviewing fisherman on the Long Island coast; to landscaping and mechanics. He met his first wife Libby in the summer of 70' through her one year old son Eddie, whom he immediately fell in love with. By the spring of 1976 they had David. Unfortunately, they're marriage ended by 1978 and he met Julie his ex-wife in the summer of 78’. They married in the summer of 82’. Wanting to start a family, they decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the city for the suburban area of New York, Long Island. They raised 5 children together by 1989 given the opportunity to raise David. In 2003 they moved the family to Spring Hill, Florida to make a new start, unfortunately divorcing in 2009. Scotty was a unique, spiritual, kind hearted man and will be missed by many. He is survived by his 5 children and 4 grandchildren, a sister, an ex-wife, a mother, brother and sister in law, along with 4 nephews and 1 niece. There was a small service on September 6, 2015 at Temple Beth David in Spring Hill, Florida with Rabbi Lennie. The family would like to say thank you to Rabbi Lennie Sarko at Temple Beth David for all of his kind words, and beautiful service. They would also like to thank the staff at the Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill, Florida for being so helpful through their difficult time. The family hopes that Scotty finally found some peace in the end, and hope that he knew how much he was loved, appreciated, and adored by everyone who knew him. He was strong, courageous, loving and will live on through all of the lives he touched for many years to come..
