Rita Schwab, age 97, of Spring Hill, Florida died on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at the Heartland of Brooksville. She was born on December 13, 1917, to Henry Claus & Bertha (Isaacson) Schmielau, in Brooklyn, New York. Rita is a longtime resident of Spring Hill, moving from Westbury, Long Island, NY in 1986. Rita retired from the Nassau County Medical Center. Rita was a gifted artist and loved to paint in several medias. She also enjoyed quilting and playing cards with the “girls”. A Lutheran by faith, Rita was a longtime active member of Nativity Lutheran Church, in Weeki Wachee, FL and an active member of the Crafty Ladies at the church. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years Norman Schwab in 1987, also by her grandson, Joseph Schwab, and by two brothers, Harry Schmielau and Bob Schmielau. Rita is lovingly survived by her family that includes; son, Norman Schwab, Jr and his wife Paulette, of Sanford, NC. daughter, Cathie Morey and her husband Joe, of Weeki Wachee, FL. grandsons Kevin Locke, Brian Locke , Scott Schwab, granddaughters, Sharon Girardin and Joy Velasco. Rita will be greatly missed by her 15 great grandchildren; Danny, Tommy, Nick, Chris, Anthony, Jonathon, Andrew, Kristleena, Kayla, Timmy, Sherry, Joey, Ally, Tyler, and Riley. Rita’s family and friends will gather at the Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Drive Chapel on Thursday, August 6, 2015, from 10 am until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12 noon with Reverend Giuseppe Mattei, Pastor, officiating. The committal blessing and burial will be held at the Florida Hills Memorial Gardens immediately following. In lieu of flowers, Rita’s family has requested donations in her memory be made to either; American Heart Association, PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or the Breast cancer Research Foundation 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.
