It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Richie” Primavera who was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on June 4th. Richie was born September 20, 1939 to Oscar & Mary Primavera in New York, New York.
Richie grew up in Long Island, NY, in Huntington, & moved to Medford, NY where he raised his family. He moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 2007, when he retired after 31 years at Batesville Casket Company.
Richie was in the U.S. coast guard & reserves from 1961-1969, and loved his country very much, with the many flag stickers he’d always put on his cars, and display the American flag in the front of his house.
In his free time, Richie loved riding his Harley, modifying and working on his cars & hot rods, and buying new cars every couple years. He loved animals, especially dogs, which he showed by his many dogs as pets and his multiple donations to help animals in need. He loved his family more than anything and bragged on them every chance he could.
Richie was married to the love of his life Janice, for 51 years, bringing together their children Karen, Staci, & Craig, and welcomed Kerri together in 1979. Richie & Jan celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary last March on a cruise with their children and grandchildren.
Richie was a funny, hardworking, strong, honest, big-hearted man, who would do anything for his family.
Richie was a beloved husband to Janice, amazing father to Karen Moore (Kevin), Staci, Craig (Tammy), & Kerri Gonzalez (Ray), grandfather to Danielle, Katie, Kevin, Brianna, Damon, Davin, Kraig, Kole, Cameron, & Giovanna and great-grandfather to Riley and will be missed beyond belief.
Richie’s death has cast a sadness upon his family and friends, and we will truly miss his funny sayings, him stopping by to talk, helping diagnose car problems, and just hearing his voice. His memory will forever live on in our hearts and we look forward to continue seeing the signs he sends us from heaven.
A service for Richie will be held on Monday, June 10th from 2:00-5:00 pm at Turner Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609.
