Richard (Dick) A. Hoffman, 79, of Spring Hill, Florida formerly of St. Clair, PA passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was born in Fredricksburg, PA to the late Floyd and Elizabeth (Liptok) Hoffman. He was a 1960 graduate of Pottsville Area High School. He was of the Catholic faith and a US Air Force veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Doris, Chuck, Carol and Bud.
Dick grew up on a farm in Fredricksburg, PA and his family later moved to Pottsville. He met the love of his life as a teenager. He saw Irene and said, “I’m going to marry that girl someday”. On February 8, 1964 they were united in marriage. He served as an honor guard at the funeral of John F. Kennedy and was always proud of his military service to our country. His passion was the field of medicine and worked pharmaceutical sales for many years. He had a love for baseball and treasured the years he coached and managed the Levittown Pacific Little League. In 1977, he and his wife became the proud proprietors of The Trolley Car Bar. It was a labor of love. They have wonderful memories and friends through their business; many they consider family. He also worked for the US Postal Service for many years until his retirement. He always enjoyed golfing and joined the senior league at Hidden Valley. He looked forward to the beginning of every new golf season. He was the type of person who fought hard but loved even harder. Dick would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone. Our family has lost its patriarch and this void in our hearts can never be replaced. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Irene J. (Vernosky) Hoffman, son Shawn M. Hoffman and wife Clair of Lake Ridge, VA, daughter Sheri A. Grabert and husband Dr. Jason Grabert of Spring Hill, FL, grandson Preston Richard Hoffman and wife Nalleli , sister Clare Batman, sister-in-law Nancy Huffman, sister-in-law Sharon Vernosky, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at a later date.
