Kenneth R. Burd, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at home in Brooksville, Florida surrounded by his beloved children and grandchildren. He was born in Long Valley, New Jersey, raised in Califon, New Jersey and resided in High Bridge, New Jersey before moving to Brooksville in 2013. Ken was a combat veteran; he served as an Air Force airman 2nd class during the Korean War and received a New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal for his service; following his honorable discharge from the military, he became a Sergeant with the High Bridge police department in New Jersey, and eventually retired as Chief of Police in Califon, New Jersey; Ken was also a Nashville recording artist with his band, Kenny Burd and the Lawmen during the 1960s through the 1980s. He enjoyed playing his guitar, spending time with his wife, and the time he spent with his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his great-great granddaughter. He is survived by his brother Floyd (Snuffy) Frank of Brooksville, Florida; sister Grace Bryant of Daytona Beach, Florida; daughter Deborah and husband Ronald Williams, of Brooksville, Florida; daughter Roseann and husband Tim Pormann of Easton, Pennsylvania; son Kenneth Jr. and wife Michele Burd of Belvidere, New Jersey; daughter Theresa and husband Guy Fowler of Willow Spring, North Carolina; his beloved grandchildren Gregory Brennan, Michelle Keating, Amy Hilton, Stephanie Bendel, Jamie Sloboda, Anthony Burd, Justin Fowler, Devin Fowler, Ryan Fowler, ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth is now joined in heaven with his loving wife of 63 years, Angelina Jean Burd, parents, Hurley Burd and Marilda Hendershot Burd Frank, brothers Hurley (June) Burd Jr., Fredrick Burd, Peter Allen, Harry Moke Frank, sisters Hazel McPherson, Violet Burd, Rose Villano, and grandson Joseph Brennan, and great-granddaughters, Stella Fowler, Carley & Olivia Hilton. Funeral Arrangements and Care are entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Springhill Drive, Springhill, Florida 34609. Ken’s family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Turner FH, from 5-7pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Turner Funeral Home on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11am. Immediately following, the Committal Services will be held at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens in Spring Hill.
