John Wesley Wade of Spring Hill, FL went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 10th, 2018. John was born on July 29, 1928 in New York City, NY to the late John Wade, Sr. and the late Eleanor Debman Wade. At age 8, due to his mother's illness and his father being a Merchant Marine, John and his brother Albert were raised at a Riverdale orphanage in NY until John turned 16. He attended George Washington High School and later earned a GED diploma. John married the love of his life, Eula Mae Ford on June 26th, 1949 in New York. He became a police officer for New York City in a career that spanned twenty years from 1955-1975. After his retirement from the police force, he continued his education at the New York Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He would eventually own and operate a private investigation firm for eighteen years. In 1985, John and Eula decided to move and build a home in Spring Hill, Florida to enjoy their retirement years. They were both founding members of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Hudson, FL. The couple also began attending Rivers of Life Church in Brandon, FL in 2000, where John became a trustee and a member of the Finance team. John enjoyed helping with his wife's Bible Study classes in Spring Hill, Florida and ministering to the sick. His devotion also led him to participate in the launching of Lighthouse Tabernacle of Praise Church in Spring Hill, FL., where his daughter, Claire Cox is pastor. John fought various ailments in his later years and each time he found healing from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. John’s intuitive nature and selfless demeanor made him a wonderful provider to his family. His hobbies included pitching for a Harlem baseball team as a young man, bowling at Spring Hill Lanes, golfing around Hernando County and watching sports. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Eula; four children, Michelle Gomillion of Brandon, Fl; Cameron Wade of Stone Mountain, GA; Pastor Claire Cox of Spring Hill, Fl; Gary Wade of Union City, GA; son-in-law William Gomillion of Brandon, Fl; daughter-in-law Diane Wade of Stone Mountain, GA; sister-in-law, Margaret Wade of New York City, NY; niece, Regina White-Tedder of Durham, NC; cousins Emmanuel Jones of Durham, NC and Diana Butts of Los Angeles, CA, as well as 20 grand children and great- grand children.
