James “Jim” Sereno, age 82, of Spring Hill Florida, died at his home surrounded by his loving family and assisted by the HPH Hospice staff. Jim was born in Shawmut, PA on May 22, 1935, to the late Stanley & Mary (Spazzano) Sereno. Jim and his loving wife moved to Spring Hill in 2005, after he retired from 40 years at Lord Corporation, as a Junior Engineer, designing Aircraft Parts for NASA, and boat parts for the Department of Defense, US NAVY. Jim was an avid Golfer, and has made 2 “Hole in ones”, at the Green Meadows Golf Course in Northeast, PA, and the Country Meadows Golf Course in Northeast, PA. He played and enjoyed Baseball, Softball, and Bowling. In his free time, he was an ASA umpire and coached little league. Jim was known as a great family man, who enjoyed every aspect of life. His word meant everything to him, and he positively impacted everyone he met. Jim greeted the world with a big smile and would always cheer you up with his witty sense of humor. James was Roman Catholic and a longtime member of the St. James Catholic Church, in Erie, PA. Jim was also a member of the Northeast Golf Course, in Northeast, PA. and the Siebenbuerger Club, Erie, PA. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, and sister, Cecilia Sereno. Jim is lovingly survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Maytum) Sereno, of Spring Hill, FL. daughter, Jo Ette Schau, of Spring Hill, FL. son, Jeffery Sereno and his wife Jennifer, of Brandon, FL. granddaughter, Kristi Sereno, of Tampa, FL. grandson, Joshua Sereno and Kelley, of Erie, PA. granddaughter, Kierra Schau, of Spring Hill, FL. great grandson, Brayden Sereno, of Erie, PA. great granddaughter, Aubrey Sereno, of Erie, PA. brother, Joseph Sereno, of Erie, PA. brother, Eugene Sereno and his wife Marilyn, of Erie, PA. and sister, Mary Sereno, of Fairview, PA. Memorial Services will be held in Erie, PA at a later date.
