Born outside of Turin, Italy, as Ivanhia Hernandez Castillo on May 25, 1962 to Joseph Castillo and Maria Rosa Marchena Hernandez.
Ivanhia attended parochial schools through high school. Ivanhia gave birth to Inty Manuel Cubillo, July 8, 1978 in Lisbon, Portugal. She received her Master’s degree in Sociology in 1985 at the Universitat de Barcelona. While in Spain, her family immigrated to Costa Rica, gaining citizenship for her and Inty in that country.
She received United States Permanent Residency for herself and Inty, September 8, 1986.
After moving to Marin County, she relocated to Albany, California where she met Norman Harcourt Davis IV in August 1987. The two married in the Berkeley Rose Garden, December 12, 1987. She gave birth to Norman (Corey) Harcourt Davis V, June 29, 1988 at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, California. They relocated to Spring Hill, Florida, April 1990. She gave birth to Melissa Xiomara Davis, March 15, 1991 at Lykes Memorial Hospital in Brooksville, Florida.
She worked as a CNA at Forest Oaks, then progressing as an LPN at the Residences at Timber Pines in Spring Hill. She was a homemaker, avid gardener, and a budding chef. Always ready for a drive to the beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her Brother, Widier [Sandra] and sister, Leide Janette [Bernardo], both in Costa Rica, her sister, Elsie in Nicaragua, and her sister, Sandra in Germany.
Also survived by her husband Norman; her sons, Inty and Norman V (Corey); and daughter, Melissa, as well as Inty’s wife, Katie with granddaughters Alexis, Sydney and Bailey; and Melissa’s fiancé, Max Reiman.
Ivanhia’s care was entrusted to the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. Family and friends gathered for visitation on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at the funeral home for 2-4 pm. A reception was held at the funeral home at 4 pm.
The family again gathered at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6193 Spring Hill Drive, on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 from 10:30 – 11:00 am. The funeral service began at 11 am at the church with Pastor Thomas Weitzel officiating. Following the service the family held a reception at the Johnson Hall at Holy Cross Lutheran Church from 12-1 pm.
Pastor Weitzel lead the committal service at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, at her final resting place in the southwest quadrant of the Veteran's Garden area, 14354 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609 at 1:30 PM.
