 On behalf of my father who is with us in spirit; thank you for all the love you have shown him these past couple of days. In addition to our immediate family and friends, I would like to thank the University of Tampa family for showing so much love. My father is a retired New York City Police Detective and has made many friends with his NYPD brethren through the years, but being so far removed from retirement and relocating to Florida, he has lost contact with some. My dad worked for the University of Tampa for several years before before officially retiring for the second time. He apparently made an impact on a few people there that were kind enough to share their stories of my dad.
 Growing up with my dad from the streets of Spanish Harlem to the Bronx, it seemed like everyone knew and loved my dad. He knew everyone at the grocery stores, dry cleaners, gas stations, people hanging out outside of the project buildings, basketball courts, you name it. I used to joke with my dad and say that you should run for mayor. Taking a drive through New York City with my father as a young kid was an experience like no other. The stories of the city he would tell were better the a book or a movie, detailing high profile cases going on, arrests he and his partners had made and historic stories in general of the neighborhood. My dad never ran for mayor but my proudest moment was when I watched him recieve the Combat Cross Medal personally from the New York City Mayor (Ed Koch) at NYC Police Headquarters for his bravery in action. Wow, thinking back on it now, it was the best of times.
 I just wanted share a little bit. What really matters is the way he always treated people and the love he has always shown to all his family and friends. He has now earned his wings. With that he will continue to be what he always wanted to be on earth...Forever Young! I love you Dad.

I was fortunate to have shared many fun times with Hiram as teenagers. He was a super human being and such a poud member of the NYPD. He loved his family very much and I vividly remember the day he met Angie and how it was love at first sight.  My deepest condolences to Angie and family .May you rest in eternal peace.

To my uncle Hiram. .i have so many great memories of my childhood going to FDR....barbecues having great family time.. you will be greatly missed .. may god grant you peace and Serenity. . May he watch over your boys and titi angie and your grandchildren  ... please say hello to grandma and cisco in heaven for me... love you ..

To My Brother and Family, I was always so proud of you. As we grew you were a good brother,  as time went on a good father, husband and grandfather.  You will always be in my heart. I will miss you so much. My you rest in peace. God bless you and your love ones. Love you.

Hiram, you've brought so many funny moments into my life while working along side you at University of Tampa. Not only where you my friend, co-worker and mentor you where part of my Nypd family.  I will never forget you and I will be praying for your family in this time. You will be missed, Rest in peace my dear friend.

One of the nicest guy's I've ever met .Allway's had a joke to say , God bless him and his family He will be missed .

Angela,  Pam and I  am so very sorry to hear about Hiram. When he would pick you up from work in the evenings, we had a chance to get to know each other, talking about our cars, work and more.  He was a great guy.  I know you have your family with you but if there is anything you ever need from either of us, please let us know.  All of you will be in our prayers.

To my father and my friend, words will never begin to express the loss I am feeling right now. You were my hero growing up. I appreciate everything you did for me and the love you showed me. I will always treasure the memories. Rest in Peace Dad.
