Dr. Heather Elizabeth Schramm, age 43, was taken too early from this earth on August 31, 2019. We write this to celebrate an incredible woman, mother, daughter, sister, doctor and friend who will always be cherished by those privileged to know her.
Heather was born and raised in California. As a child, she always expressed a strong interest in science and her talent for expressing true compassion toward others always came easy and from her heart. Never losing sight of her interest, she worked incredibly hard in high school, earning top honors in her graduating class. She received the prestigious Regents Scholarship to continue her education at UC Davis for her medical degree as well as her PhD in the field of genetics.
During her years at UC Davis, Heather was author and co-author of numerous published genetic research papers. During her schooling, she had two children named David and Marina and her love for them led her to change her focus to pediatrics. She completed her pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee before moving to Florida.
Heather worked taking care of children in the hospital as well as outpatient pediatrics. She also worked for 3 years in Alaska in a rural area with no specialists, giving her an experience she felt was unique and beneficial. She found great joy in watching the children she cared for grow over time and felt like she became part of their family.
Heather was an avid athlete and enjoyed running, biking and competed in several long distance events. She especially enjoyed a rim to rim hike of the Grand Canyon.
She was adored by her family and friends as well as her coworkers and patients in the Spring Hill area. Many people have reached out to her family to say she was the most outstanding and kind pediatrician they had ever known.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents Bonnie and Marc Stoner, her children David and Marina Schramm, her sister Sarah Levack (Toby) as well as her uncle, nieces and nephews.
