Bud Hyler, age 89, of Spring Hill, Fl. died on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bud was a Spring Hill resident since 1999, coming from Essex, MD. Born on December 22, 1925, in Danville, VA. to the late Dewey and Myrtle Ann (Johnson) Hyler. He retired from the Roane’s Rigging Company after many years of service, moving very large heavy equipment. His nickname when he was a boss at a trucking company was “Hooton Hyler”. A veteran of the U S Navy, during WWII and he served at Sub Marine base New London, CT., and then into the pacific theatre on the USS Sea Cat Submarine, that was in Tokyo Bay, during the signing of the peace treaty. He was active in youth baseball for years, coaching the Dutch Oven Baseball team. He loved to take the kids to pull pranks during Halloween, and would load all the neighborhood kids in the back of his truck, (sitting on benches that he made) and take them to see the Orioles play baseball. He was also known to all as the neighborhood mechanic and the kids would bring their bikes, mini bikes and dirt bikes to him to fix. Bud was of Christian faith, and was a member of several veterans’ organizations. Bud was sadly preceded in death by his parents; son, John Patrick Hyler, and sister, Jackie Myers. Bud is survived by his loving family, including his wife of many years, Frances E. (Bass) Hyler, of Spring Hill, FL. daughters, Sandra Hyler, and Christine James both of Spring Hill, and son, David Hyler and his wife Janet, of Street, MD. And by his 2 granddaughters, Rebecca and Kaitlyn. Bud’s family and friends will gather for the visitation at the Turner Funeral Home Spring Hill Drive Chapel, 14360 Spring Hill Dr. Spring Hill, FL. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, from 4 – 6 pm. The funeral service will be held at 6 PM, at the chapel. Cremation will follow all services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bud’s name may be made to help the local homeless and needy families of Hernando County.
