June 3, 2024, in Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL surrounded by his loving family. David was born on February 17, 1942, in Wheelwright, KY to Conrad Russell and Carrie Tiller Helton.
David married the love of his life, Kerry Bartholomew in Honolulu, HI on April 21, 2010.
David was preceded in death by his parents Conrad “Russ” and Carrie Tiller Helton, brothers Conrad “Buddy” Helton and Douglas Helton.
David is survived by his wife, Kerry, daughters Jill Morris, Carol (Todd) Freeman, Dawn (Chris) Jacobs, and son David (Stephanie) Helton, as well as daughter Julie (Richard) Schrot. Surviving grandchildren are Steven, Daniel, and Andrew Morris, Gregory and Nicholas Ayala, Austin, Hannah, and Marisa Jacobs, Lauryn Helton, Madelyn and Alexander Schrot, and Taylor and Samantha Freeman. David also had three great-grandchildren Clementine Morris, Sage Bigbee-Morris, and Oliver Keen Laughter-Morris.
David grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and graduated from Stebbins High School. He furthered his education at Wright State University and the Wharton School, and he served his country with honor in the United States Air Force.
Achieving great milestones early in life, David became an Eagle Scout at the young age of thirteen, making him the youngest Eagle Scout in Ohio at the time. His dedication to excellence defined his career as a product development engineer with General Motors North America, where he retired after an impressive 42 years of service.
David’s legacy of hard work, dedication, and service will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a family who will miss his kindness and unwavering spirit.
