Corey Cornelius Hill
Alpha: October 3, 1978 Omega: May 15, 2015
At 8:37 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 1978, Corey Cornelius Hill made his grand entrance into the world in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Born to parents, William Edward Hill Jr & Elnora Siplie Hill, Corey was the youngest -and largest - of their three children (weighing a total of 5 pounds and 10 ounces at birth).
Corey spent his early childhood and teenage years growing up in the rural parts of Brooksville, FL. He often described his childhood days as “having grown up on a small farm in a small town.” As a child, Corey was spirited, full of energy, and playfully mischievous. Needing a positive way to channel his energy (and wanting to follow in his older brother’s footsteps) Corey was introduced to the sport of wrestling at the tender age of just 8 years old. He wrestled in several free-style tournaments before attending Springstead High school where he was able to develop and perfect a unique and aggressive style of wrestling that would secure him athletic success and eventually shape both his personal and professional lives.
Upon graduating from high school, Corey was offered several wrestling scholarships to attend college. He eventually committed to Colby Community College’s wrestling program. It was at Colby Community College that Corey met his beautiful wife, Lauran Lowe Hill.
Corey and Lauran were married on September 22, 2006 however the two have shared their lives for nearly 16 years. [Corey has always let it be known that he wants credit for the time he’s spent not only married to Lauran but also for the time he spent both courting and dating his wonderful wife].
Corey and Lauran’s first child, Seytia Coreyn Hill was born on December 7, 2000. They would later have two more children (Keynan Michael Hill, born October 7, 2003 and Corey Jeyvan Hill Jr, born May 19, 2008).
Corey and his family lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado before relocating to Brooksville, FL. It was in Colorado Springs that Corey began his MMA professional career. He competed in a couple of amateur bouts before auditioning and securing a seat on the Ultimate Fighter’s Championship (UFC) TUF (Season 5) in 2006.
Following the airing of the UFC’s TUF (Season 5), Corey fought in many professional bouts. He also returned to the classroom in 2014 to continue working on his education. He was just a few classes shy of having earned his degree.
Although Corey’s perseverance, work ethic, and strong will found him success in the MMA fighting cage, he always felt that his greatest accomplishment was his family, especially his children.
Corey Cornelius Hill was a family man: a devoted husband and a loving father.
He is survived by his wife, Lauran Hill; a daughter, Seytia Coreyn Hill; two sons, Keynan Michael Hill and Corey Jeyvan Hill Jr; his father and mother, William Edward Hill Jr & Elnora Hill; a brother, William [Willie] Edward Hill III (Lillian Hill); a sister, Shauna Kincade (Edward Kincade); three nephews: Jaylen Hill, Jacquez Kincade, and Le’Shaun Gray; two nieces: Jakaila Hill and Imani Kincade; a great niece, Aeryana Selena Hill; and a host of other relatives, extended family members, and friends.
