Bobby was born on June 24, 1933, in Bethpage Tennessee the son of the late George and Frances Thurman.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Audrey, his two sons and daughter-in-laws Greg (Marcy) Thurman of Weeki Wachee, Florida and Lee (Laura) Thurman of Eustis, Florida, grandchildren Autumn Duncan, Thomas (Rebekah) Te’o, Ashlee (Gregory) Raczkowski, Spencer (Mackenzie) Te’o, Robert (Caitlin) Thurman, and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Richard (Robin) Thurman, Charles (Carolyn) Thurman, Russell (Gwen) Thurman, and Earl Eaves, along with many nieces and nephews. Brother Billy Thurman and sisters’ Barbara Hallmark, Betty Harrelson and Debra Eaves Thomas predeceased him.
Bobby grew up in Tampa, Florida and after graduating from high school he proudly served in the United States Army from 1950-1953. After his tour of duty, Bobby had had a long career with GTE Corporation and retired in 1990.
Through the years, Bobby enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He shared his enthusiasm for nature with his sons and grandson and they spent many weekends hunting together. He managed little league baseball teams in Seminole, FL and was a passionate sports fan especially for his beloved Florida Gators. He enjoyed camping and attending music festivals and he and Audrey spent many summers at their home in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. He was blessed to have many close friends and enjoyed traveling around the country with them and many a Friday night card game.
Bobby and Audrey shared a love that was remarkable and unending, a foundation of strength for their family. Bobby was a strong, kind, and supportive father to his two sons and a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and kept everyone laughing. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at SpringLife Church, 9344 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida 34608.
