Betty Jane Couch was born in Portland, Oregon on December 23, 1922. She had a wonderful childhood with her father, mother (who died when Betty was six months old), step-mother and brother. Betty graduated from Park Rose High School in 1939 and worked in Portland until she met her future husband. Betty met her husband Sid at a USO dance in Portland when WWII was starting to escalate. Sid was in the Army Air Corps. The two fell in love and were married in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 6, 1943. Betty and Sid were a career Army family and spent their retirement in Florida. They celebrated their sixty-fourth anniversary in March of 2007 then Sid passed away in December. Betty passed away peacefully with her daughters present on December 4, 2017, just a few weeks before her ninety-fifth birthday. She is survived by two daughters; Jane Spencer of Belton, Missouri and Janice Kessler of Hallstead, Pennsylvania. Also remaining are two sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Betty will be greatly missed.
