Dick was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 4, 1934 to Alfonso Pasquale and Antonietta DiNicola Pasquale. He grew up in the Little Italy neighborhood of Erie, sadly his mother passed away when he was just eight years old and he experienced a challenging childhood. At age 17 he enlisted in the US Navy, serving on the USS White Marsh, LSD-8. After the Navy he attended trade school, learning welding and other metalworking skills. He worked as a welder at Bucyrus Erie for 15 years, then started his own business, Erie Weld Products. His firm grew continuously, supporting major industrial operations such as General Electric, Urick Foundry, Kaiser Aluminum, Hammermill, Lords, and others. While continuing Erie Weld Products, he simultaneously created and led another enterprise, Spiral Stairs of America, which manufactured stairways sold throughout the nation. Key in helping both these factory operations thrive on a daily basis were his cherished wife Linda and son Jeff.
Dick had a passion for motorsports. In his twenties, he drag raced cars and competed in motorcycle enduros. He later customized motorcycles, winning a room full of tall trophies. He also owned boats of varying sizes that he sailed on Lake Erie. In fact, at one time he owned nearly a dozen antique wooden CrisCraft motor yachts. Later he owned a series of collectors cars and regularly participated in automotive events where he made many great friends. His most prized vehicle was a 1930 Packard Limousine that he restored himself.
Dick was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother Lena Cavicchio Pasquale, sister Donna Pasquale McClellan, and first wife Nancy Foster Pasquale. Two children also predeceased him, son Kurt Pasquale and daughter Kim Northrup. He is succeeded by his wife Linda Boyd Pasquale and sister Becky Pasquale. Also succeeding him are children Rick Pasquale, Jeff Pasquale, Cindy Pasquale Fasekas, Melanie Pasquale Shoey, and Fred Northrup Pasquale plus 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
