Joy was born on December 25, 1928 to Frank and Grace (McNitt) Bartle in Gull Lake Township, Wisconsin. She graduated from Spooner High School in 1946. She married Warren Parker on August 23, 1948 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. They ran the family farm in Gull Lake Township until 1960. She also worked at Spooner Laundry and Cleaners and Ben Franklin until 1966. Joy attended Rice Lake Area Vocational Technical College until 1974. She worked at area automobile dealerships serving as secretary, insurance sales person, and loan securing agent. Warren passed away on June 17, 1979. Joy worked at the Spooner Memorial Library for 19 years, until her retirement in 2007. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Spooner. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling.
Joy is survived by: two sons, David (Cathy) Parker of Spooner, and Mark Parker of Lampson, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Loren (Diane) Bartle of Lampson, and Gary (Sharon) Bartle of Gull Lake, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by: her parents, her husband, Warren, one son, William Allen Parker, one great-grandson, Isaac, and one sister, Laquita Thompson.
A funeral Service for Joy was held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 1:00 pm at the First United Pentecostal Church in Spooner with Pastor Dennis Witkus officiating. A visitation was held on Friday, May 30, from 4 until 7 pm at Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in the Earl Cemetery, in Earl, WI.
