Yvonne Mae Hoffman was born in Kellogg, ID on November 6, 1930 and passed away on December 11, 2020 in Spokane, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Gibson; her brother, Bud Gibson; and her husbands Dr. Kenneth Hoffman DDS of Spokane, WA and Earl Winans, former Chief of Police of Kellogg, ID. She is survived by her daughter, Christi Swearingen; her son Kevin and his wife Betty Winans of Spokane, WA; Grandson Shawn and his wife Persephanie Hanson of Spokane, WA; Granddaughter Brittaney and her husband Rob Denson of Lewiston, ID; her four great grandchildren Jacob and Libby of Lewiston, ID; Briseis and Kiauna of Spokane, WA; as well as many friends and distant relatives.
Yvonne performed many levels of office support work primarily in administration management. She worked 18 years as the Executive Secretary to the President and Vice President of Bunker Hill Mining in Kellogg, ID. Then moved to Boise, ID and Lake Tahoe for two years before returning to Spokane with her family. She worked as a secretary to the General Manager, Chaling Liang, of Cominco American and Support Supervisor for Johnson Mathey, a combination of 23 years with both. After retiring, she moved onto Crawford Rehabilitation then finally 6 years with Home Instead Senior Care where she earned Employee of the Year for 2 consecutive years before she finally retired from working.
She kept herself busy with home support for her husband, Ken, as he continued to work in Yakima, WA part-time to finish his career in dentistry. As a young woman, she had earned the nickname of “Little Caesar” given to her by her father, which had fit her to a tee. Whatever Yvonne did, she did with excellence and fierce dedication. From her various vocations, to overcoming personal obstacles, to praying for her family each night by name, she did nothing half way. She showed her family what perseverance and tenacity looked like. Her example of faith in action was something that she took seriously and is a pinnacle of her legacy. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family has been the most important part of Yvonne’s life. She will be always loved and missed by all that had known her.
She will be interred with her husband Ken, at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of Yvonne’s Life will be held this spring at the home of her son, Kevin Winans.
