August 30, 1935 - August 29, 2021
Bill Cowan passed away peacefully in the arms of his son, Joe, on Sunday, August 29th, 2021 at his home in Spokane, WA, one day before his 86th Birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Ann Cowan in 1998, a son Billy in 1958, and a grandson Gerick in 1990.
Bill was born in Harrison Idaho and moved to Spokane as a young boy. He joined the US Army in March 1953 and served until February 1956. On December 20, 1956, he married Judy Heintz. Their first son Billy was born in 1957 and died in 1958. After Billy, they had seven more children who were raised in Northwest Spokane.
Bill worked at many places which included Armour Meats, ABM Janitorial (Airport, WA Mutual Bank) and Security (Highland Plasma, University City). He enjoyed working with people, making new friends, and was liked by everyone!
Pops loved spending time with his kids and family at BBQ's playing croquet and volleyball, going to lunch, and hanging out. While playing in softball leagues and at the family reunions, he had a left-handed swing that made him look like Babe Ruth. Bill was always up for going to the Spokane Indians and Spokane Chiefs games. He was friendly to everyone and loved talking with his neighbors. He was a big fan of the Mariners, Seahawks, and Gonzaga Bulldogs…
Bill is survived by his kids Mike Cowan, Tony Cowan, Jodie Naker (Greg), Mary Helean (Philip) all of Spokane, Joe Cowan of Portland, James Cowan (Shawna) of Airway Heights, and David Cowan (Natalie) of Everett. Also 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two on the way.
"Pops" was loved much and will be greatly missed by many.
The family will be having a private celebration of life!
