Ruth Rivin left this world two days before her 95th birthday. She was born in Great Falls, MT on May 4, 1916, and graduated from Great Falls High School. She then attended Deaconess School of Nursing in Great Falls, MT and graduated as a registered nurse in 1937. She married Wallace Patterson in 1938 and had one daughter, Vicki. In 1943, she became an Army nurse and married Leon Rivin. Her daughter, Marcie, was in 1945, and Vicki joined them after having lived with her grandparents. Ruth left the Spokane area for some time, but eventually returned and lived the remainder of her life here.
Ruth was interested in music and played the piano. She was involved in community activities and liked to garden. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and saw most of the states and parts of Europe. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Howard Stephens, and a sister, Margaret La Motte. She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Mitchell and Marcie Roe and husband Teddy, of Billings MT; grandchildren, Debra Wogman, Shelley Wogman and husband Jim Bellotty, Kristin Melton and husband Jim, Timothy Roe and wife Karen; great-grandchildren, Michelle Greer and husband Matt, Kimberley Hiatt, Krista Hiatt, Michael Hiatt, Nickolas Melton and Ian Roe.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 10 AM in the Alwin Chapel of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe.
