(Age 91)
Passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Rockwood Retirement Communities on Spokane’s South Hill. Bob was born to Marguerite and Emil Munk on November 10, 1924 in Spokane, WA, where he grew up. After graduating West Valley High School, Bob enlisted in the Army, serving until the conclusion of WWII. He returned home on the Queen Mary.
Upon returning home from the service, Bob entered the Spokane Fire Department, as a fire fighter. Soon afterwards, he met and married Elizabeth Bowen. Together they raised three sons, David, Duane, and Bud. They were members of St. Paul’s Methodist Church for 40 years. Bob and Elizabeth were married for 60 years. At the end of his career with the Spokane Fire Department, Bob had reached the rank of Captain.
Bob is survived by his sons, Duane Munk and Bud Munk, both of Spokane; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; as well as daughter-in-law Diana Munk. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; and his son David.
A celebration of life for Bob will take place July 23, 2016, 2:00 PM at Rockwood Retirement Communities – Summit Event Center, 2903 E 25th Ave., Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Residents’ Assistance Fund at Rockwood Retirement Communities.
