Robert “Frank” Jamison (age 88) passed away August 18, 2017 in Spokane, WA. He was born March 29, 1929 in Burley, ID to Maurice and Mildred (Moench) Jamison. Frank was raised in the grocery business in Wendell, ID where he graduated from Wendell HS before attending Idaho State University.
Over the years he worked in, managed or owned grocery stores including Albertsons Food Centers (Lewiston, Walla Walla & Spokane), Rosauers, Jamison’s Thrift Spokane Valley, Jack Pot stores in the Tri-Cities and PDQ in Dayton, WA. Frank also participated in area and regional grocery professional organizations, including serving twice as president of the Thrift Store Organization, member and twice president of the Inland Empire Food Retailers Assoc., including six years on their board. He was named “grocer of the year” by IERA, member of Washington State Food Dealers where he served on committees 14 years prior to serving as state president (1980-81). He also served on their board for 10 years.
Frank’s interests were diverse. He served many years on an advisory committee for Spokane Community College. He was a private pilot, and a member of the Washington Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc. Frank also had a lifelong love of music, especially Dixieland, and played the trombone for many years.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, as well as wives, Bette (1989) and Patricia (2003). He is survived by four sons, Dennis (Sally) Jamison of Washington DC, Roger (Pam) Jamison of Spokane Valley, Scott (Chris) Jamison of Spokane Valley, Robert (Mary) Jamison of Walla Walla and daughter, Maurice (Reca) Nelson of Richland, WA; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 24 from 5pm to 8pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel. Funeral Services will be Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:30am at Thornhill Valley Chapel, followed by burial at Pines Cemetery.
