Patricia Ann Kilgore

April 8, 1930-

Patricia Ann Kilgore passed away on Wednesday, November 14 after a long struggle with COPD. She was born on April 8, 1930 in Walla Walla, Washington, to John and Veta Beard. She lived in various towns in southeast Washington along the Snake and Columbia rivers since her father worked for the railroad. On December 4, 1948, Patricia married Vernon Kilgore in Spokane, Washington. They had 4 sons. Pat and Vern were married for 57 years. They spent their entire married life in Spokane.

Patricia worked many years for the Spokane Post Office. During this time she enjoyed bowling, bridge, bingo, and camping with her family. She was active in PTA and Mothers of Twins Club. Every summer, Pat and her sisters would take all the kids to Deer Lake for a week of camping. After retiring from the Post Office, Pat took up knitting Afghans, which were enjoyed by family members. You would also find her at her favorite table doing crossword puzzles or reading.

Pat’s favorite place was the ocean, especially around Lincoln City. After her boys left home, she and Vern traveled the country in their motor home and loved to spend time parking it on the beach at Kalaloch, in the Olympic National Park. They belonged to the Road Runners Camper Club, which traveled all over the west. Patricia made great chocolate chip cookies and is remembered for her Christmas Eve open house with all of the relatives and friends. Winters were spent in Arizona until illness forced Pat and Vern to return to Spokane. Pat and Vern made several trips to Hawaii and also traveled to New Zealand and Australia.

Patricia is survived by her sister, Lauretta Noll and her husband Larry (Spokane), sons, Mel and his wife Marilyn Kilgore (Palmer, Alaska), Doug and Linda Kilgore (Yakima, Washington), Steve and Tammy Kilgore (Maple Valley, Washington), and Wayne Kilgore (Spokane, Washington). She has 6 grand children, Cindy, Andrea, Kristi, Craig, Mark and Alisha.

Her husband, Vern Kilgore, her brother Bill Beard, and sisters Peg and Audrey preceded Patricia in death.

We would like to thank North Point Assisted Living, for all of their help these past 4 years. The North Point attendants made Patricia’s last few years as confortable and enjoyable as possible. She enjoyed sharing her candy with them. We also appreciated Spokane Hospice for their assistance in the final few months.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Wayne Kilgore on Saturday, December 1, starting at 3pm.
