Born May 20, 1921 in Bieber, Germany, Ottilie “Tillie” Walker passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord while in the comfort of her home and loved ones October 30, 2013. Tillie grew up in Germany where she worked as a nanny. After WWII she married Sgt Aaron E. Walker (US Army) October 29, 1947, and they relocated to the United States. One of her proudest moments was in 1953 when she became a citizen of her new, beloved country. Aaron and Tillie Walker had three children and three grandchildren all in whom they took great joy. When Aaron retired, the family moved to Marina, CA, where Tillie worked as the assistant manager at Girard’s Marina Rexall for twenty years. Widowed in 1986, Tillie moved to Spokane in 1990; she joined Fowler United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the evangelism committee and the Fowler United Methodist Women’s group. In 1996 she was blessed with the arrival of her only grandchild.
Tillie Walker was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wilhelm and Anna-Maria Weidner, step-mother Johanna Weidner, brother Karl Weidner, sister Josephine Fortune, her husband of 39 years, Aaron Walker, daughter Jana Mozal, grandson Joshua Aaron Knight, and Earl Reeves, who was her sweetheart for the last decade of her life. She is survived by her son Andrew Walker (Joyce), daughter Jessica Dillon (Terrence Knight), granddaughter Brandy Kanatzar (Brian), grandsons Micah Mozal and Daniel Walker, great-granddaughter Kelsey Kanatzar, and in Germany, niece Waltraud Lorenz, nephew Jurgen Weidner, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Spokane, with special thanks to nurse Ruthann Fix and social worker Nora RedFox.
