Age 87
Passed away May 1, 2016 in Spokane, WA. Mary Ann was born May 12, 1928 in Seattle, WA to Clifford E. and Mildred O. Lucas. When she was two months old her family moved to Spokane where she remained until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis W. Kroll; brother John C. Lucas; and sister Virginia M. Robinette. She is survived by her brother Burt C. Lucas of Quincy, WA; son Neal C. Kroll of Spokane, WA, daughter Janet F. Hibbard of Bremerton, WA, daughter Lori Ann Morrisey of Spokane, WA, and son Franz D. Kroll of Newport, WA; six grandsons: John Coker, Andrew Kroll, Jeremiah Kroll, Jesse Morrisey, Joshua Morrisey, and Aaron Kroll; four granddaughters: Jodi Maras, Connie Barber, Lisa Pipella, and Chelsea Hibbard; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mary Ann grew up in the Audubon Park neighborhood where she attended Finch Elementary School, Havermale Jr. High and graduated from North Central High School in 1946. She attended Eastern Washington University for two years where she met her future husband, Francis W. Kroll, a returning Army veteran of Colfax, WA. They were married on May 26, 1948 and remained married until his death in 1989. They raised their four children in the home they built together on Alameda Blvd.
Mary Ann was a member, past president and historian of Tri-Gama Jr. Women's Club. She was a member of a small "Sewing Club" for 50+ years where many of her long-lasting, loving friendships blossomed and endured until her death.
Mary Ann was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, formerly known as Calvary Lutheran, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of the church’s daytime Women's Bible Study group for many years. She used her creative talents to make crafts, posters, etc. for the church bazaars that benefited missions around the world.
Mary Ann loved camping, gardening, painting, writing poetry and children's stories.
Mary Ann's faith was important and evident in her life. She loved her family and Jesus her Lord and Savior. She was a Prayer Warrior for her whole family, leaving big shoes for her family to fill. She loved her home and family. She was a beautiful lady inside and out with a genuine love of people and interest in them. Her generosity was unmatched. She looked at the sunny side of life (no matter what).
