(age 94)
Mary Ann went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 12, 2017 in Spokane, WA. She was born on November 5, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN but lived most of her life in Spokane. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and finished two years of college but quit school to work during World War II at the rationing board. Mary Ann married Virgil Buettner on February 14, 1945 and they shared over 61 years together before his passing in 2006. Mary Ann had lived in the same home for 68 years. She was a homemaker, a wonderful cook and a busy seamstress, making most of the clothes for her two daughters as they grew up. She was always the mom that was the room-mother and Scout leader for her girls. For about 40 years, Mary Ann faithfully worked on the election board in her neighborhood precinct. She joined Central United Methodist Church when she was 14 years old and remained an active member for the next 80 years. She and Virgil enjoyed many years of community service with the church as well as delivered Meals on Wheels for decades. They were also longtime members of Lilac City Good Sam RV camping group.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Bruce Armstrong, and Karen and Lynn Treffry; grandchildren: Scott Patrick, Jeff Armstrong, Jason Armstrong, Lorie Campbell, Brian Treffry and Jon Treffry; and 11 great-grandchildren.
We all love and miss Mary Ann very much.
