(Age 75)
Former California resident Marvin O. Morgan, 75, died peacefully July 23, 2011, at his daughter's home while vacationing in Spokane Valley, WA.
At his request, Marvin will be cremated.
Marvin was born May 25, 1936 in Linefork, KY, to Henry Morgan and Geraldine Holcomb.
Marvin was a unique man who could accomplish nearly anything he set his mind to do, whether it was working on cars or tinkering with early model TV sets. At a very early age, he set his sights on leaving his small mountain town in the hills of Kentucky. He had a very large family, 10 brothers and sisters: Joyce Hopkins (deceased), Janet West (widowed), Jerene Kindley (and Kirk), Jeres Perraglio (and Roger), James Morgan, Bruce Morgan (and Marrianne), Ken Cornett (and Joyce), Larry Cornett Alton (and Janie), Johnnie Cornett (deceased), and Gerald Wheeler.
Mr. Morgan served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a flight navigation specialist. He spent four years in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge, Marvin moved to California where he met and married his wife Eustolia "Lee" Gamboa in September, 1962. They were married for 43 years until "Lee's" death on March 20, 2005. During his working years, he worked for Northrop Electronics and various other aerospace companies in Southern California, mostly as a QA specialist. Marvin and Lee raised their family of five in Los Angeles, CA and then retired to Spokane Valley in 1987. Their children who reside in California and Spokane Valley are: Johnnie/CA (and Christina), Lisa/WA (and Matt), Marvin/WA (and Maria), Ricky/deceased, and Kimberly/CA (and Mario).
Marvin enjoyed many friends and family over the years, BBQs, playing pinochle, crossword puzzles, dominoes, and endless days wagering bets on his favorite pastime, horse racing. He was a great cook, especially his ribs and BBQ sauce, his bisquits and gravy and his SOS. His sense of humor that made his grandkids laugh will be greatly missed. He is survived by four of his five children, 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30th, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral home with inurnment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
