She joined her sister Laura to complete the family of four. She attended school in Spangle and married Gordon Green July 8, 1930. They had four children: Dorothy, Leslie, Edward and Ronald.
She became a member of the Spangle Christian Church in 1954 and lived in Spangle until moving to Spokane in 1956. While living in Spangle, she worked at Smith’s Grocery Store for several years. She later worked at the Newberry’s store in Spokane and then at Washington Trust Bank for 19½ years until retiring in 1974. She valued the relationships she made with her many co-workers.
After that time, she and her husband purchased a motorhome and traveled extensively in Canada and the US. One such trip took them back to Missouri where her husband was born.
Her son Leslie passed away May 3, 1989. Gordon passed away June 23, 1989, shortly before their 59th wedding anniversary. After Gordon’s passing she still traveled, although they were shorter trips. She enjoyed attending Old Time Music Festivals, museums, flower shows, county fairs and family gatherings. Home, family and friends meant a great deal to her. She lived at Orchard Crest Retirement Community for 14 years. The last two years she received excellent care from the staff at Fairfield Care, where she passed away peacefully April 9, 2018.
She shared many stories from her 104 years of life and will be missed by her many friends and family. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Herman of Federal Way, her son Edward (Janet) of Bellevue, and son Ronald (Jackie) of Spangle. She had eight grandchildren: Frank, Richard and John Atkinson, Bonnie Van Tine, Connie Paulson, and Don, Lonnie and Tony Green. She had 15 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be at Noon on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.
