Marion Vernal Taylor passed away at the age of 94. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Sullivan Park Care Center. She was born on September 24, 1921 to Alfred and Lena Peterson (Sundem) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was raised in Colfax, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of 3 Children with 2 older brothers. Her father passed away when Marion was age 7. After graduating high school in Colfax, Wisconsin, she and her mom moved to Spokane where she met dad roller skating. She married George W. Taylor, on November 19, 1948 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. Her mom, Lena passed away in 1977. Marion and George celebrated 60 years of marriage before dad’s passing in July 2009.
Mom was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Mom and Dad raised us with Love, dedication and hard work. Our family was everything to both of them. After dad’s retirement in 1984 they enjoyed traveling to Arizona, Nevada and throughout The Northwest. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, George Walter Taylor (July 2009), infant daughter Sharon Kay (3mos-1950) and both of her parents. Marion was also preceded by 2 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law: Arnold Peterson (Helen) and Lloyd Peterson (Genevieve). Marion is survived by 3 children: Daughter Janet LaMotte, Daughter Peggy Hopkins (Dave) and Son Steve Taylor (Barb). Also survived by 5 grandchildren: Dustin Taylor, Sarah Hopkins, Blayne Taylor, Jason LaMotte and Ryan Hopkins (Amanda). Also survived by 2 Nephews, Mark and Mike Peterson.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Sullivan Park Care Center where mom resided for over 11 years. She was very happy there and received excellent care.
Memorial services will be held at Sullivan Park Care Center on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:00am. Sullivan Park is located at 14820 East 4th (corner of 4th and Adams) in the Spokane Valley. Marion will be buried at Spokane Memorial Gardens next to Dad, in a private family burial service.
