Marguerite Easter Cook (Panther – Asbury), age 97, joined her large family in her eternal home on December 20, 2015. Maggie was born to Ben and Bessie Panther in Pleasant View, ID on March 25, 1918. She spent her early years in Pleasant View, ID, Red Lodge, MT, and Spokane Valley, WA. She attended a one-room grade school in Red Lodge, MT and graduated from West Valley High School. On December 7, 1940, she married Robert Lee Asbury and had two sons: Thomas Lee and Robert Washington. Tom and Cheri (Robinson) had 10 children: Zoe, Irene, Reg, Dara, Tami, Sara, Elizabeth, Deborah, Angie, Christina. Bob and Barbara (Pfeiffer) had 2 children: Ben and Brooke. Collectively, there are 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In August, 1983, Maggie married George Cook and they divided their time between Spokane Valley and Salome, AZ.
Maggie is preceded in death by husbands, Bob and George; son Tom; 3 granddaughters, Zoe, Irene and Dara; as well as her parents, 6 brothers, and 1 sister. She is survived by her son Bob as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Maggie’s devotion to her family and belief in God supported her throughout her life and she instilled that in her children and grandchildren. Her first interest was her family where she enjoyed cooking and was known for her amazing dinners and delicious pies. She was a wonderful wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial to Maggie’s life will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 3:00PM at the Greenacres Baptist Church, 18620 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army.
