Mable Lovina Nordby (88) died October 12, 2010 at the Royal Park Care Center. Mable was born January 30, 1922 to McDowell and Alice Stevenson in Oyen, Alberta, Canada. When she was in grade school they moved to the Williams Valley area where her father farmed. She attended school in Deer Park. She married Leonard Hutchins in 1939 and was later divorced. She then married Soren Nordby and they were married 51 years before his death. Mable worked for a number of years at Carsten Meat Packing Co. and then went to barber school and joined her husband in the barbering business. She worked at the Veterans Hospital cutting hair for a few years. She loved to bowl and was on a bowling team for a number of years. She also loved to go to Worley with friends and play BINGO. She had three children, Leo Hutchins, Gary Nordby and Glady (Nordby) Zeilstra. She has nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Glady (Al) Zeilstra of Chandler, Arizona; daughters-in-law, Lynda Hutchins and Judi Nordby. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Art Stevenson; husbands, Leonard Hutchins and Soren Nordby; and her sons, Leo Hutchins and Gary Nordby. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Fairmount Memorial Park.
