Born January 24, 1916 - Died April 18, 2011
Lu was born and raised in Spokane, WA, and lived in the Spokane and Cheney area most of her life. She lived for eight years in Idaho. She graduated from John R. Rogers in the second graduating class in January of 1934, in those times they held graduation twice a year, in January and June. She married Cecil C. Ferguson on October 30, 1937, they were married for 53 wonderful years and had three children from this union. Lu and her husband Cecil were foster parents for many years and later became a receiving home for young children. They had cared for approx. 500 children over the course of time. After this Lu became the director of the D.A.R.E. program in Cheney from 1990 to 1997. Lu was blessed with God given talent to care for children and they loved her dearly and were always glad to be with her. Lu also had a day care center for quite a few years, she took care of up to 20 children easier than most people could take care of one. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; son, Laurence (Larry) Walker, from a previous marriage. She is survived by two sons, Clifford (Sue) of Cheney, WA, and Marvin (Barbara) of Spokane Valley, WA; daughter, Faye (Dean) Forney of Colville, WA, with whom she has lived since June 2006. She was also the proud grandmother of 13 grand children, 29 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. She was a beautiful and loving mother to her children and she will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Until we meet again in the resurrection, rest in peace Mother. Lu was interred beside her husband Cecil at Spokane Memorial Gardens, at her request, there will be no service.
