Kenneth (Kenny) Payette Davis, December 6th, 1956, to July 26th 2024. Born in Newport Washington to Eddie and Ruth Davis. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, football, and basketball and made lifelong friends living in a small town. His love of baseball and basketball continued into high school, which earned him a spot on the first baseball team that played in a state tournament for Newport. Additionally, he was the scorekeeper for the football team. He graduated in 1975 and enrolled at Central Washington University, declaring his major to be in education with a focus on history and a minor in drama. Upon finishing his student teaching in Ellensburg, WA, he graduated from Central Washington University in 1980.
In the fall of 1980, he accepted a position at Cusick High School teaching history and coaching both volleyball and basketball. While attending summer school classes at Eastern Washington University, he met his wife Nancy in 1980. They were married in 1983. Then in 1985, he left Cusick High School for a teaching and coaching position at Freeman High School where he made a lasting impact on many students and fellow teachers. During his tenure, they welcomed both their son Stewart in March of 1986 and later, their daughter Kasey in April of 1988. He retired from his teaching and coaching career of 36 years at Freeman High.
When not teaching, being a dad, husband, or coach, he was an active member of the Spokane Basketball Officials Association. After 40 years of service, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023. Including his gratuitous service for basketball, Kenny also was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Athlete Association's volleyball coaches hall of fame in 2008.
He is preceded in death by parents Eddie and Ruth Davis, brothers; Steve Davis, Stewart Davis, and Blaine Davis; sisters Nancy Adams and Linell Davis. He is survived by wife Nancy Davis, son Stewart Davis, daughter in law Hannah Davis, grandson Greyson Davis, daughter Kasey Davis, and Sister Alice Muxen.
