Keith William Wigen, born October 23, 1947 passed away Sunday March 18, 2018 after a valiant battle with brain cancer. His struggle is over, but his legacy lives on. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Linda, his four sons; Bill (Jennifer) from Mica, David (Kelly) from Vancouver, Andy (Luan) from Spokane Valley, and Jeff from Vail, CO and his brother, Kevin (Rene’) from Rockford. He was also the proud papa of 10 adoring grandchildren.
Born and raised on the farm in Rockford, WA, Keith developed a love of plants early on. He attended Rockford Elementary School and in 1966 graduated from Freeman High School with his future bride. He attended Washington State University earning a degree in agronomy to start his life long career in agriculture.
After a short time away, Keith returned to the Rockford area to raise his family. Extremely active in the community, he was heavily involved in the community garden, Southeast Spokane County Fair, and his church. He never refused a call for help.
He loved to watch his sons compete for Freeman High School, and spent countless hours watching football games, announcing wrestling matches, and starting track meets. His life touched the lives of so many people in his community and he will be sorely missed.
A viewing will take place Friday March 23rd from 5-7 pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm at the Thornhill Valley Chapel. On Saturday, March 24th a service will be held at 12 pm at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Rockford WA, immediately followed by a graveside ceremony. A further joyful memorial reception celebrating Keith’s life will be held at Freeman High School at 2 pm. In memory of Keith please direct donations to Make a Wish Foundation of America, Alaska and Washington Region.
