January 9, 1939 – November 23, 2022
After living an extraordinary life of twinship, independence, and adventures, Judy left this world at Spokane Hospice House, just steps away from where her identical twin sister went to the angels.
For seventy-seven years, Judy lived with her twin sister, Mary. After Mary passed in 2016, Judy bravely redefined herself and her life without her sister at her side. When she was younger, she took great delight in playing tricks with Mary, as people often could not tell the difference between them. She loved their “twin communication,” and how they would answer questions at the same time with the same answer or complete each other’s sentences.
Judy and Mary were pool sharks. They carried their own sticks and billiard balls and played every week at the YMCA. Their pool parties with friends and family were legendary. They enjoyed traveling together, swimming at the YMCA, discovering new restaurants, and especially being good friends to those they loved.
Judy worked many jobs in her life, including modeling, and as a certified nursing assistant. She helped care for family during times of need. She attended Spokane Community College in her later years and took great pride in her writing classes. Judy enjoyed writing letters and cards to people throughout her life and liked to include articles cut out from the newspaper if something caught her eye that she thought they would find interesting.
Miss Judy always knew her own mind and heart. She was a delight to all who knew her.
Judy is survived by nephew Mike McMann (Azlin, children Sam and Tasha (Aregawe Georgio), and great-grand-nephew Aregawe Michael); cousins Dan Pike (Rhoda Harwood), David Pike (Char), Don Pike; and Tom Pike (Deb).
She is preceded in death by her parents Ira (Shorty) and Blythe Fowler; twin sister Mary Fowler, older sister Nancy (Fowler) McMann; and niece Lynne McMann.
Judy’s family would like to especially thank Sherilynn O’Leary for her loving care and advocacy, and Spokane Hospice House for their exceptional support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane or The Arc of Spokane.
A memorial service for Judy will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.
