It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John J. O’Connell on Nov. 5, 2016. Born in New York, he had been a resident of Spokane since 1956 when he was stationed here with the Air Force. John met the love of his life, Beverley (Jean) Thompson, in Feb. 1957 and after a short romance, they were married in April 1957. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. John worked for more than 30 years as a driver and later as training and safety director. John is survived by his devoted wife and 4 children, Tom (Stacy) of S. Dakota, Kathy (John), and Kim of Spokane, and Kris of Amarillo Texas. In addition, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren survive him. His favorite name was “Papa” to all his little great grandbabies that he loved so much. A visitation for John will be held Thursday November 10th, 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home followed by a funeral service Friday the 11th at 9:30 am. A committal service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace will be held on Friday at 1:00pm.
