Joan M. Johnston, 68, was born on December 18, 1941 and passed away on September 16, 2010 in Spokane, WA. Joan was a loving mother, wonderful cook, loved children and animals. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered and is survived by her companion, Terrell Johnston; daughter, Kristine Taggares (Mike) of Kennewick, WA; two sons, Farrel Crithfield (Millie) of Issaquah, WA and Chad Crithfield (Kristi) of Richland, WA; two sisters, Patricia Riley (Tim) of Elk, WA and Donna Phillips of Spokane; aunt, Maxine Lamers (Gerry) and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen Wallace; niece, Wendy Pendleton and nephew, Donnie Phillips. She married Gary Crithfield and they had three children together. After raising their children she earned her Master’s Degree from EWU and worked for Child Protective Services, as a social worker for over 20 years, retiring in 2004. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Spokane Club, 1002 W. Riverside Avenue, Spokane led by Robin Luckey.
