Jerry Leon Fant was born in Talladega Alabama, April 19th, 1940. He was born to Mildred Josephine and James E. Fant. He died at home with his family around him on December 17th, 2020. He married Julia T. Harris in 1965. They had two boys, Casey J. Fant and Rick J. Fant. Jerry then married Jeanne C. McQueen in 1975. Jerry became the father to her three kids, Dianna L. Grimes, Paul D. McQueen, and Angela J. Robins. He also thought of his son's brother, Jeffrey Kimmet, as a son as well. Jerry and Jeanne also helped raise two of their grandchildren, Julia J. Fant (Riley) and Trevor J. Fant.
Jerry was a gifted storyteller and he loved to tell stories about all the adventures of his life. He always found a way to entertain his kids and grandkids until he died. He was the oldest living Fant in many generations and we often called him "Too stubborn to die." He was as stubborn as they come, and active right up until the end. His nickname was "Grumps" and he was our Grumpy grandpa for sure. He was always joking with us and almost always happy. We loved him, and he loved us.
Jerry was survived by his ex-wives Julie Jensen and Jeanne Fant, as well as all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jerry had many friends and co-workers that remain his friends. He was an unforgettable character who will be sorely missed!
Due to Covid we plan on having a Celebration of life around mid-April. If anyone has questions please call Paul McQueen at (509)868-8881
