Age 97
James passed away Dec. 6, 2015. He was born Oct. 26, 1918 in Edmonton, Alberta CA as one of four children (Leo, James, and Phyllis), and after moving to Spokane, WA was raised at the Hutton Settlement. He became an Eagle Scout plus POMS, and the Spokane Businessman’s Group sent him to the Scout-A-Rama in Washington, D.C. where he shook hands with the United States President. He graduated from West Valley HS in 1937 and was very active in 4H, especially judging livestock. He worked for Marshall Wells Wholesaler for 5 years.
In May 1938, James married Montana and they had three children, Robert, Tana, and Holly. He began working as a fireman in 1942, was promoted to an engineer for the railroad and worked for them 39 years. He loved the slots, Gonzaga basketball, and the SeaHawks.
James was preceded in death by Montana (2001). Survivors include his son, Robert (Marjorie) Billings, and daughters, Tana (Carl) Reiner, and Holly (Erik) Snyder, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
