She was born December 5, 1918 at a ranch home near Grass Range, MT, the daughter of Charles and Tillie Brass. She attended a small county grade school and Grass Range High School. She is survived by her son, Kenton Brumble of Spokane, and a brother, William Brass, of Beaverton, OR, numerous nieces and nephews, seven step grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ivan and Robert Brass, and a sister, Bernice Extine. Her husband, Roland (Frenchy) Tarquis died in 1997. She graduated from the Metropolitan Business College in 1937, thereafter starting her business career of over 40 years with Western Tractor, then Lillenquist Motors, and Comet Corp. Retiring in 1977 she and Frenchy became “Snowbirds”, spending winters in Arizona and summers in Beyond Hope, ID. She and Frenchy enjoyed dancing to big band music, golf, socializing, and especially fishing. A leg amputation ended her “active” years in the mid 90s. She moved back to the Coeur d’Alene/Spokane area in 1994 to be near family and friends. She and Frenchy then spent several years in retirement homes. Upon Frenchy’s death, she and her son and his wife, Bettie shared a home in the Spokane Valley. She was best remembered for her business skills, love of family, common sense, and outgoing friendliness. Her sense of humor will be sorely missed. Per Ione’s request, no services will be held.
