Gwen Hill (age 80) passed away November 28, 2012, in Spokane, WA, following a short battle with cancer. She was born November 24, 1932, in Grafton, ND, and moved to Spokane while in high school. She graduated from Rogers High School, as well as Eastern Washington University (BA) and University of Washington (MA). Gwen spent many years with Spokane Public School as a teacher and librarian. She retired in 1986 after 30 years in education. Gwen was a member of the American Association of University Women, a longtime benefactor of Eastern Washington University, and had many other interests and involvements including her completion of 23 Bloomsday races (including this year), the Corbin Senior Center walking group, four book clubs, Spokane Symphony Association, Museum of Arts and Culture, poetry groups, the performing arts in Spokane, traveling, and tutoring ESL students. She is survived by two daughters, Angela McDonald (Robert), Erica Sauers (Terry); five grandchildren, Brandon, Savannah, Kaitlyn, Alyssa and Blake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonse Hill, and her sister, Carol Watkins. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 West Fort George Wright Drive.
