Age 88
Gunnar was born on February 25, 1929 and was a life time resident of Spokane. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1947. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was an Eagle Scout, Cub Master and Scout Master at Finch School. He was extremely proud of being employed at the US Post Office where he retired in 1989 after 36 years. Gunnar was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed travel. One of Gunnar’s greatest joys and accomplishments was his success as a musician. He was self-taught and started playing the drums professionally at the age of 15. He was the lead singer and drummer for the Expo 4 for 25 years. He finished as a musician playing with the Eagle Lodge Concert Band and Ragtime 5. Between work, music, hobbies, friends and family he lived a full life. Gunnar was a lifelong Christian. We know he is in a better place, spending eternity with his Savior. Gunnar is survived by his wife Ruth and five children Sandy Kruger (Paul), Sheryle Morris, Nancy Wilson (Mike), Terry Munther (Pam) and Gerry Cummings, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leonard, and his sister Gerry Selvig. Funeral services will be at 3 P.M. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home. A viewing will follow the service. A private burial service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery on Monday January 15th. Please send memorials in Gunnar’s name to the Union Gospel Mission.
