Born April 20, 1938 in Colville Washington, Bud Engelhardt Passed into the Hands of the Lord Jesus Christ on October 26, 2017 in Spokane. Ball & Dodd Funeral Home is providing funeral arrangements.
Son of Fred and Francis (Willard) Engelhardt, and grandson of Cedonia pioneers Fred and Clara Engelhardt and George and Bessie Willard, Bud spent his youth in Cedonia. He attended Huckleberry, and Cedonia Grade School, and graduated from Columbia High School in Hunters Washington.
June 26, 1957 he married Virginia Ottosen, daughter of Bert and Ruth (Fletcher) Ottosen. Bud joined the military and served as an Administrative Specialist with the Army after completing stenographer training at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas for his three-year enlistment.
Bud was employed with the Statesman-Examiner in Colville as News Editor in 1960. He then worked for several years with the Davenport School system before going to work for Washington Water Power (AVISTA) in Spokane March 1975. He was presented the Washington State Save-A-Life Award in 1993 by Governor Lowery. He attended Kansas State University and completed the American Landscape School in California. In April 1998 he retired with 23 years of service with Washington Water Power, the final ten years of which he was Supervisor of Facilities Services.
Bud was a member of the Eastern Washington Genealogy Society, and the Avista Trailblazers. He is on the Cradle Roll and attended the Cedonia Community church in Cedonia and also attended the Mission Presbyterian Church in Spokane.
Preceded in death by his parents Fred and Francis Engelhardt and wife Virginia (Ottosen) Engelhardt. Survivors include his children; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Danielle Engelhardt, grandson Jason, great grandchildren Jadon, Tristan, Calista and Grayson; daughter, Ronda and Brad Newman, grandchildren Ericka, Charles, Malinda, Brandi and Bradley, great grandchildren Madison, Cooper, Lincoln, Rachelle, Kelsey, Danny, Raelyn, Malinda and Swayze; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Cyndee Engelhardt, grandchildren Ryanna, Russell & Hollee, great grandchildren Malachi, Gabriel, William and James; and daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Dee and Greg Galbreath, grandchildren Ryan & Alisa, great grandchildren Jorden, Landen, Ryan Parker, Dax, Jaxen & Brayden.
Memorial services will be held 1pm, November 4, 2017 at the Cedonia Community Church with Pastor Ed Dashiell officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedonia Community Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Cedonia Community Cemetery fund, 4562 Hwy 25 South, Hunters, WA 99137.
