Gene, age 100, of Spokane Valley, WA, passed away October 7th, 2023, in Spokane Valley. He wanted to leave this world and move on. He always said, “My expiration date was up.” He said he had lived a long, full life with 6 beautiful children and a lovely companion of 25 years.
Gene was born in Des Moines, IA, on January 27th, 1923, where he grew up. He was on the swim team in high school and became a great lover of water and boating. His family scarcely has a memory of Gene that didn’t involve boating. Later, he was a restaurant owner and worked with Blind Foundations in IA and later in WA.
As World War II started, he served our country in the USAAF as a bombardier on a B-17.
He was the middle child of 3 boys to Joseph and Christina Domanico, who emigrated from Italy. He is survived by Frank, Melody, Joy, Joe, Jon and Jason, his children, as well as his grandchildren, Melissa, Paul, Maria, and Tiffany, as well as his companion, Kathy Butler. He is preceded by Helen-Ann, mother to 5 children, and Nancy, mother to one. He is also preceded by his grandson, Michael David.
We will miss Gene with his awesome wit, his numerous jokes, his kindness and generosity and his crazy-persistent, positive outlook on life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BallandDodd.com for the Domanico family.
