We miss you… without you and “encumbered by morons, we will push on.” Your words, they ring true in my mind every day. I will always remember your remarkable wisdoms. 

Hi my name is Jason Rivas and I just wanted to pass on at Eric and I were friends in Junior high and high School and we worked together at milford's fish House. I stayed the night at his place a lot when I was in junior high as he and I were pretty tight. I became helplessly addicted to duck hunt as he was the one who had the Nintendo. we watched Beverly hills cop 1 and 2 so many times together. and we would laugh. and we would laugh some more. Eric was my first best friend in Spokane but I moved out to the valley and he and I after milford's lost touch. 

I thought of him today. for some reason his name just popped into my head and so I did a search on Facebook for him, as I thought it would be really great to catch up and find out how he's doing.

I was fortunate enough to have met my husband thanks to my best friend. She created an E Harmony profile for me. Eric and I connected over their Memorial Day free weekend. He left his brothers high school graduation party early to meet me for our first date. We agreed on a meeting place and he told me when I walked in the door to look to the left and he would be sitting in a booth waiting. When I walked in the front door and looked to the left there was a wall he didn't tell me that he came in a back door. I walked around looking for someone who looked like they were waiting on someone since we did not know what the other one looked like. He was sitting in a booth across the room arms folded on the table watching me as I walked around. I pointed at him and asked if he was Eric. He got this sheepish grin on his face and nodded. I was so nervous that I barely spoke at all so it's a good thing that he liked to talk sometimes a little too much There was something different about this man and I knew early on that I was going to marry him We got married and moved to Vancouver. He made a promise to me and my family whenever I wanted or needed to come back home he would make it happen and when I said it was time for us to move back we would. He followed through on these promises. When we found out our niece was pregnant I told him that I wanted to move home. He started the process the very next day getting transferred back to Spokane He used to give me a really bad time about how much I order from Amazon. I was going through some of our texts and found one that he sent me that said Amazon has been here A lot is there another warehouse being delivered I need to know about? He swears that one day when he was out in front of the house the Amazon delivery driver Tony as Eric named him drove past and backed up and asked if his wife was ok since he hadn't delivered lately I am so honored to have been his wife and will miss him every day for the rest of my life

Even though I didn't go through physical labor with Eric and was not there when he was born I was with him when he passed, Eric has  been my oldest son for over 36 years. Your children are supposed to outlive you but this was not the case with Eric. He was smart, stubborn, funny and fiercely loyal. He never forgot our wedding anniversary and even called to wish us a happy anniversary from his hospital bed. That was just the kind of person Eric was. I will miss his beautiful green eyes, his hearty laugh, and his big bear hugs.

In addition to all of our good memories and time with Eric, he left us  our beautiful granddaughter, Anna. Like her father, she is incredibly intelligent, has a good sense of humor,  she is caring and compassionate and has Eric's striking green eyes.

Eric will always live on in my heart.

Eric was always his dad's boy. Whatever Dad was doing, Eric wanted to help. He was an early walker at just 9 months and from then on, he would get up from his afternoon nap, climb up on the couch, and watch for Dad to appear.  When he pulled up in the car, Eric would be off the couch and out the door.  Then he would take Dad's lunch box in one hand (the lunch box drug on the ground) and reach up to hold Dad's hand with the other.  Then Eric would lead the way slowly up the walk, Dad bending over to reach Eric's hand.  I guess that is an analogy for Eric's life -- he was always helping someone.

We here at Glass America are devastated to have to write this memory. Eric was one of the most outstnding people I have had the pleasure to work with. I always enjoyed interacting with him and was laughing most of the time due to his jokes and wonderful spirit. The team here at Glass America will sorely miss him and will remember the person he was always.  One of my favorite memories of Eric was picking up his van to swap out. We met up in the morning and I fully expected to just pick up and hit the road back to Seattle. Nope! We stood in the driveway for well over an hour trading stories and telling jokes! We celebrate his memory and know he is now at peace.
